Our lab is for young professionals and interns who want to learn more about data analytics/ social media/ marketing, understand the secret steps to get a job in marketing and using social media or have the knowledge to use specialized skills and want some pointers from seasoned professionals in their respective fields. Our speakers will share their extensive background in data analytics , social media and marketing through past and current experiences.

Participants will learn about :

  • How these technical careers affect politics and campaigns
  • How to hone their skills so they can land these types of jobs
  • Hidden job seeking resources
  • The importance of networking

Alan Rosenblatt, Ph.D. is a digital and social media strategist, professor & thought leader with over 25 years’ experience at the intersection of digital/social media and public affairs. Alan is SVP for Digital Strategies at turner4D and Director of Digital Research at Lake Research Partners. His work focuses on using digital and social media to better understand public opinion, drive political and policy campaigns, and educate the public on key issues of the day. His pioneering work in digital politics includes teaching the first-ever college course on digital politics in 1995; creating the first state issues online advocacy consultancy; creating the enterprise social media program at the Center for American Progress; writing a column for; teaching graduate courses on digital politics at Johns Hopkins, American and George Washington Universities; training tens of thousands of online activists around the world; and hosting The Dr. DigiPol Show. Alan is a frequent writer and speaker on the topic of digital politics, writing for the HuffingtonPost, techPresident, Roll Call, Campaigns & Elections, appearing on many TV and radio news programs, and keynoting/speaking at many conferences. Alan has a Ph.D., M.A. and B.A. in Political Science He can be found across social media @DrDigiPol.

Molly Fluet is currently on the Leadership Client Solutions team at the Washington Post. She focuses on creating multi-platform advertising solutions for global brands, associations, and non-profits to engage with the Washington Post’s national Influencer audience. Leveraging events, native content, digital and print media; she helps brands elevate their stories for issue advocacy and brand awareness campaigns. Before the Washington Post, she was at POLITICO for five years on their Audience Solutions team and their subscription service POLITICO Pro. While on the Audience Solutions she collaborated with brands and associations to elevate their messages to D.C.’s decision makers. On the POLITICO Pro team, she launched 10 Pro policy areas and was an Account Manager working with Fortune 100 companies and trade associations. Before moving to D.C., she worked on political campaigns and in business development roles in California, She received her graduate degree from American University receiving an MPA in Political Communication. She is from Los Angeles, CA and attended UC Davis alum. She currently sits on the UC Davis Alumni Board and locally serves on the Holy Trinity communications committee and supports Story District D.C.

Zach Wineburg is a veteran in mobilization and campaign management, with over a decade of experience, who has worked on elections at every level – from municipal to Congressional, Senate, Gubernatorial, and Presidential. With stints at the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee (DSCC) and at Democratic Governor’s Association (DGA), Zach has also served as campaign manager for Congresswoman Gabby Giffords’ successful reelection in 2008, and as part of President Obama’s Senior Leadership Team in the battleground state of Iowa in 2012. As a member of Google’s Elections & Advocacy Team Zach supports Democratic candidates, committees, and Super PACs, along with progressive organizations, in communicating their message to the right audiences by utilizing Google’s suite of tools and products. He holds his bachelor’s degree from Mary Washington College and a master’s degree from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government

Jamaa Bickley-King is the committee chair for the Change the Game training and has over 20 years of political experience in the progressive and Democratic party space. He has had critical roles in implementing innovative data-centric programs to engage people of color, especially Black people. He has implemented custom VAN set ups for the NAACP, The Prime Minister of Trinidad Tobago and successfully deployed the first 50 state VAN and Voter file system for a national non-proft in the US. He was the critical tech architect for the NAACP’s 2012 voter registration program where they registered over 600,000 people nationally. He is also, the Chairman of the Board, President, and co-founder of New Virginia Majority, which completed a successful Black, Latino, and youth-targeted voter registration drive in Virginia, that registered 150,000 people in 2016.

Rachelle Grey is a Senior Digital Manager at DCI Group, an independent public affairs consulting firm that specializes in public relations, crisis management, grassroots engagement, and digital advocacy. Her expertise includes digital campaign strategy, social media and programmatic advertising, analytics, third-party activation, microsite development, content creation, and website content management. She has designed, launched, and managed digital media activities on behalf of national and state-based coalitions, patient advocacy organizations, trade associations, startups, technology companies, television channels, politicians, think tanks, nursing homes, pharmaceutical corporations, and CEOs. Before joining DCI Group’s digital media team, Rachelle built and led the digital media practice at Rational 360, a boutique public affairs firm in Washington, D.C. Prior to that, Rachelle spent four years at Mercury Public Affairs where she gained a comprehensive understanding of integrated public affairs campaigns as a member of Mercury’s grassroots, media relations, and digital media practices. In addition to private sector public affairs experience, Rachelle also served as a staff assistant in the Washington, D.C. office of then-Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, supporting the Senator’s personal office staff and constituents visiting the nation’s capital. Rachelle graduated with honors from the George Washington University with a double major in International Affairs and Economics. She is originally from Virginia City, Nevada.
